Your Small Kitchen Design

Strategy is the key when it comes to designing your small kitchen, and you would do well to remember this, should you be feeling concerned as to how you are going to squeeze everything in.
Remember when you go about remodelling your little kitchen: What appliances can I include? Do I have sufficient storage space? How is my lighting?
Ever considered putting in a small island? If not then you should. It’s an excellent storage solution that will supply you with extra space on which to work, and that essential storage space you were looking for. Is it too small even, for an island? Don’t fret if this is the case. Go gallery style. This will mean putting your previously linear style cabinets, on either side of the kitchen isle. Problem solved. You can now free up some of that precious space, and your cabinets are no longer something you perceive as a hindrance.
If you want to inject a little bit of charisma into your kitchen, as well as some space, then suspend a rack from the ceiling. You can use this to store pots and pans, and it’ll add some serious prestige.
Use the cabinets that you fit wisely. Realistically if your kitchen is that small, then pantry cabinets should be fitted, going right to the ceiling. You can then put the rarely used utensils and such, in the hard to reach places.
What colours should I use for my little kitchen?
Glass doors on lightly coloured cabinets. This is what you should be looking towards. Why not affix attachments to the inside of doors, such as spice racks? Thinking laterally can really free up space.
What about work surfaces? Think deep with your work surfaces, so that your appliances can fit on them, and don’t need to be stored away. Make sure that you purchase compact appliances, too. The sink is one of the only elements of your kitchen, whose size shouldn’t suffer. Keep your sink as sizeable as possible. Keep it practical for your big pots and pans.
Don’t forget about that under cabinet, and under counter lighting. Your guests will feel far more welcome, as the space appears to open up dramatically. This is an excellent, and surprisingly overlooked tip.
